Welcome to One Health Conference III 2025

Welcome to the One Health Conference III – 2025
The National Eco-Security System Pakistan (NESS-Pak) and Dairy Science Park (DSP) warmly welcome you to the Third One Health Conference 2025, to be held at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan (AWKUM) on 6–7 November 2025 under the theme:
“One Target – Long-Term Survival of Humanity through the Eco-Security System.”

This conference aims to enhance participants’ understanding of the critical role of the National Eco-Security System in ensuring long-term human survival and environmental sustainability. It will foster collaboration and partnership among government, academia, industry, and civil society to support the implementation of the NESS-Pak Initiative.

About the NESS-Pak Initiative

The NESS-Pak Initiative integrates multiple domains into a unified Eco-Security Framework, focusing on:

  • Environmental Security — monitoring and mitigating six of the nine planetary boundaries that have already been transgressed (biosphere integrity, climate change, novel entities, freshwater change, land system change, and biochemical flows to the oceans), and addressing the remaining three (stratospheric ozone depletion, atmospheric aerosol loading, and ocean acidification), as reported by Richardson et al. (Sci. Adv. 9, eadh2458, 2023) and Qureshi (2023).

  • Biodiversity Conservation — protecting local animal and plant species from the dominance of invasive high-yielding breeds and varieties.

  • Food Security — promoting sustainable food production with minimal environmental impact.

  • Public Health Security — applying the Biorisk Management concept initiated under Dairy Science Park (DSP).

  • Livelihood Security — empowering indigenous communities in protected areas through entrepreneurship across the food value chain, as envisioned in the Technoparks and Triple Helix Good Governance Model of DSP.

The local community will be supported in gaining access to quality food and decent employment, while policy guidelines will be developed to enhance the productivity of pastures, rangelands, and forests in an environmentally responsible manner.

Conference Goal

Through multi-stakeholder engagement and collaborative research, the conference seeks to advance the vision of:
“An Eco-Security System for All People (ESSAP).”
