The Dairy Science Park (DSP) organized an international Zoom meeting on 31 May 2026 to review the newly published DSP Profile 2026 and to discuss future strategies for strengthening academia-industry linkages, entrepreneurship, eco-security, and international collaboration across the livestock value chain.

The Proceedings:
Prof Muhammad Subhan Qureshi, President Dairy Science Park welcomed the participants and invited them to share their thoughts. The participants collectively acknowledged the transformative role of Dairy Science Park over the past fifteen years in promoting academia-industry-government linkages, international collaboration, capacity building, entrepreneurship, and policy reforms across the livestock value chain. They appreciated the opportunities provided through international conferences, industrial exhibitions, training workshops, research collaborations, and stakeholder networking, which have strengthened professional capacities and fostered lasting partnerships among academia, industry, government organizations, and development partners both within Pakistan and abroad.
Dr Gang Li, Professor of Virology, Chinese Acadamy of Agricultural Sciences Beijing referred to the letter of intent was aleady signed with DSP for scientific, industrial and trade collaboration. He had particpated in the Fourth International Conference and Industrial Exhibition on Dairy Science Park, held in Turkyie. Presently, he is staying in Canada and is extending cooperation to DSP.
Dr Mithat, Selcuk University Konya, Turkyie, shared his experience at DSP, initiated during DSP 2013 at Peshawar and have made several visits to Pakistan later on, establishing friendship and professional collaboration with many colleagues from various organizations like UVAS Lahore, UAF Faisalabad, Hazara University, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council Islamabad, Livestock Department KP and Punjab, etc. Dr Mithat co organized the DSP IV – 2017 Konya conference at Turkyie, hosting delegates from 20 countries, including 50 from various organizations in Pakistan. He facilitated sigin of an MoU between DSP and Konya Technokent.
Prof Saber Mohamed Abd-Allah, Focal Point DSP Egypt and President DSP Egypt Chapter, shared his experience under DSP as head of the Theriogenology Department at Beni Suef University. He has suggested to establish Dairy Science Park Cairo (DSPC) as an autonomous regulatory, financial and marketing authority, run by a Board of Governors representing all the stakeholders and an Endowment Fund. DSPC will support the public sector organisations as facilitators and the academia in generation of feasible entrepreneurship models across the Livestock based Value Chain (LBVC). The Major task of DSPC would be generation of decent employment and exportable hygienic/Halal certified food and biotech products.
Prof Sarzamin Khan, Vice Chancellor, University of Agriculture Peshawar and Chief Technical Officer, DSP shared his experience at UAP.
Besides academic excellence, Prof. Khan has developed extensive expertise in broiler, layer, and breeder production systems, dairy production, sheep and goat farming, and advanced laboratory diagnostics including PCR, Real-Time PCR, histopathology, and ELISA.
He has successfully implemented several research projects of industrial relevance. His notable contributions include:
- Introduction of artificial insemination in broiler breeder farms in Pakistan
- Establishment of biogas model units for poultry breeder operations
- Promotion of environmentally controlled poultry sheds
- Initiation of insect protein production for poultry and livestock feed
- Development of killed vaccines for mastitis, infectious bronchitis, and infectious bursal disease
Several of his innovations are under consideration for patents in Pakistan, including:
- Mealworm-based chitosan
- Garlic, onion, and chilli phytobiotic blends
- Superworm-based prebiotics and probiotics for poultry
Prof. Sher Bahadar Khan appreciated DSP for providing opportunities for professional growth, international exposure, and stakeholder networking. He highlighted the establishment of the Eco-Security Research Centre at Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan as an outcome of the collaborative spirit promoted by DSP.
Dr M Azam Kakar particpated in the discussion and appreciated particpation of friends from various countries. He has recently got retired from Livestock Department Baluchistan and his story was published by DSP Website as a blog.
Prof. Umer Sadique commended the achievements of DSP, particularly the biennial international conferences, industrial exhibitions, and biorisk management initiatives, and appreciated the sustained commitment of the organization towards livestock sector development.
Prof Dr Murad Ali Khan added: I was delighted to see the participation of distinguished colleagues from different countries, including Türkiye, Egypt, China, and others, as well as respected participants such as Mr. Umer Sadiq. Such diverse and valuable representation reflects the success of this initiative. The credit for bringing together this excellent forum goes to Prof. Subhan Qureshi, whose consistent dedication, commitment, and tireless efforts made this possible. eHe referred to the proposal of establishing the Center of Excellence for Dairy Science Park at UAP, which will be a great support to UAP, in association with BIC and ORIC.
- Establishment of Center of Excellence for Dairy Science Park, strengthening academia-industry linkages under the leadership of the Vice Chancellor UAP.
- Continued international collaboration with partners in China, Türkiye, Egypt, and Canada.
- Support for establishment of Dairy Science Park Cairo.
- Expansion of NESS-Pak and Eco-Security initiatives.
Strategic Vision for the Future
Since DSP is approaching a mature stage of development, the following Strategic Vision is suggested emphasizing a transition of the idiginous resources towards prosperity of the people:
“The first fifteen years of Dairy Science Park were devoted to networking, advocacy, capacity building, and policy dialogue. The next phase of Dairy Science Park will focus on institutionalization of converting indigenous resources into prosperity through innovation, entrepreneurship, and good governance. By strengthening public-private-academic partnerships, supporting commercialization of research, and establishing Entrepreneurship Development Centers, DSP seeks to generate decent employment, exportable surpluses, and sustainable livelihoods while contributing to environmental protection, biodiversity conservation, food security, public health, and eco-security.”
